Traps

Post by Gatz »

Well, Ningu is in and I think it needs some sort of trap ability. Traps are used often in Naruto, to a varying degree. There are many, many examples of a well placed trap winning a battle. However, my idea for traps, which is very, very rough:

- Detect trap: Detect a trap is in the room, and don't trigger it. Anyone who is in your group will also gain that benefit as well.
- Disarm trap: Disarm a trap and destroy it, rendering it worthless. Failure to disarm properly could cause it to fire.

General Trap Info:
---Traps have a power level, in a way like Genjutsu, so that based on the type of traps, number of traps and ability to the trap placer, the trap gets a 'level' which determines some of it's power and how easy it is to detect and disarm. Also, a user's ability will determine how long it takes to place a trap. Traps can stack in rooms, but every time a trap is placed in a room, it takes longer to add the next one. Not sure if the amount of traps in a room should ever have a limit, but enough limiters, ie time, money, etc, need to be put into place so players can't just place 100 weak traps and kill nearly everything. A deterrent for spamming traps might be that all traps fire at once, so a Kage Bunshin could trip all traps in a room, effectively making the traps pointless.

---The more wild the combination of traps is, the more difficult it is to set them up. Meaning that when a trap is being constructed, the user might trigger another trap that he just setup, or he might trigger the trap he is setting up. Making it important for a user to train his ability to construct traps early before battle use.

Active Traps:
(This one might be scrappable, because I'm running a blank on what else could go here)
--- Active traps require the user to continually do something, but don't require any items.
- Detection: Able to detect any NPC/PC that enter said room, must be in an adjacent room and actively focused.

Items Traps:
--- Item traps require the user to purchase an item and 'set it up' in advance. If the user isn't careful, they can trigger their own item traps.

- Metal wire/metal floss: Sling wire across a room as a base for most traps.

- Bells: Attached to metal wire, when a user enters the room and have no trap detection ability, they immediately trigger the bell and all adjacent rooms hear the ringing.

- Explosive tags: Can be triggered based on a timer, based on an entrance into the room or based on the user triggering them with Chakra, if they have a high enough mastery of tags and they scribed the tag.

- Snare: Using metal wire, snare the opponent for a short period of time. Tags can be added to the snare to cause the opponent to be snared and then exploded a bit. However, if they survive they are no longer snared.

- Weapon trap: Place various items in this trap and upon being triggered, they launch at the victim. If the items are tagged, then they explode on contact.

- Projectile trap: Sends the victim flying into a specified direction, including another room, or maybe even to a wall or up in the air. If they get sent to another room, they will trigger all traps in that room even with a perfect detect ability.

- Ninjutsu/Genjutsu trap: The most expensive type of trap to construct. Take a Ninjutsu or Genjutsu and 'imbue'/'scribe' it onto the trap so that upon trigger, the victim gets hit with it.
