Area Editor

Nick Gammon has made an awesome area editor, located here: http://www.gammon.com.au/downloads/dlareaeditor.htm. If I adapted this to be able to generate areas like NarutoMUD, would anyone be interested in working on areas this way?
The system would probably be: you send me your area and if I like it, I imp it. Then you gain some sort of bonus or something because of that. This way, anyone who just wanted to try to build an area for fun wouldn't have to become a builder Imm, but they'd still get some credit for their work.

Looks interesting and fairly easy to use, so if its easy to implement for NarutoMUD I think you could go for it. I think most could enjoy helping making the MUD grow bigger and even if the areas are really really bad in grammar there could be good area templates and ideas.

way cool
Yeah, I think thats way cool!! ... but yeah, perhaps to encourage players to get involved, you could include rpp's being involved if the area is ported into the mud, by a player.

I would love to see this adapted for NM use.

I can see its' advantages for Narutomud - it's probably the best way of getting more areas for a mud that could really benefit from such additions. Can keep the player population happy too - who wouldn't want the chance to leave their imprint on the mud? =)
Although some basic ground rules for building and early discussions between budding builders and imms would be optimal - that would make sure that there won't be similar ideas being worked upon at the same time - and keep areas true to Naruto-y themes!

I, too, can find my way around an area editor. Any word on this one? :)

Just wanted to post to say this Area Editor will work with how NarutoMUD is setup now. However, it won't prompt you for any NarutoMUD specific features, such as nicknames. However, anyone curious about building can give it a shot. If you find that easy, our in-game setup is easier, I feel, that even Nick Gammon's Area Builder.
However, people who are curious can download it and give it a whirl, if you feel like you have something, we can always upload it to the builder's port and let you continue you on NarutoMUD's Builder Port.
