Multi-playing?

Should multi-playing be allowed? I am starting to question it myself, why not? Really, if the game is so easy you can just mindless stack up alts to level, why not let people?

I think that there are a lot of reasons why multi-playing shouldn't be allowed. Foremost is kata. Kata eventually becomes a very slow, drawn-out process. Having two characters on would allow someone to do kata with one while they wandered about with another, paying little attention to the character doing kata. In my opinion actually playing one character is pretty involving and playing more than one at a time, and playing it well, would be very nearly impossible.

The other major concern I have is for grouping. One person could potentially create several alts, group them all together, and run amock on enemies. Grouping is a wonderful mechanic as it is right now. There are very nice benefits for being in a group, and I feel that it encourages teamwork when people discover said benefits. When people group up, they tend to get to know each other a little better, and maybe feel more comfortable with one another. I think that's a really good thing, enough of our time is spent wandering around without actually seeing other players, that the time spent being around them is something that should only be further encouraged. If someone could get on with 2 or 3 or 4 alts and run around in a group with themself, there would be no reason to ever try to group with anyone else.

However, I must say that I know some of the players with higher level characters have alts, some of which are of high level also. To my knowledge, most alts by higher level players have authorized bios. So these players have two characters that are ready to go for RP. It seems to me that allowing them to RP with each other would be beneficial not only for that player, but also for aiding in the further building of some kind of NarutoMUD storyline, which is at current rather thin or tied up in things that few active players still remember. Allowing RP-multi-playing could also potentially lead to larger spur-of-the-moment RP sessions and the potential for actual RP events.

Basically, unrestricted multi-playing sounds like a terrible idea to me, but idea of some level of multi-playing isn't entirely outrageous.

I agree.

Also, arena multiplaying would destroy the arena rankings...

I don't want to sound like a simple "yes"-man, but I agree with Ichiro's points and don't have anything to add to his well written post.
