Characters: Inyi, Shiro, Suzaku
The once-spartan armory bustles with life, genin milling about in all shapes and colors. A costume party, the first in Time. No children at this event, heaven forbid. Genin love their own cliques, you know. And the free-flowing alcohol that's involved. Inyi stood nursing a glass flute, slightly tense. Long furred bunny ears wobbled on her head as she turns, scanning the crowd from her niche beside the wall..
Shiro had decided to go with a pirate captains costume that night complete with cutlass and eye patch, for what better costume could a ninja wear then that of a pirate. Making his way through the crowd he searched for faces that were familiar to him. Upon finding a familiar looking bunny girl he heads to her side and exclaims "Why if it isn't Inyi-san!". The puppet on his hand which for this occasion was dressed as a parrot chimes in "What's up babe?".
Suzaku looks around the room, noticing that he's one of the only genin that actually came dressed as a ninja, albeit a higher ranked ninja. He decided to come to the party in an ANBU uniform, complete with a plastic hawk-shaped mask and a toy sword. He also wore a spikey hair wig, making nearly impossible for anyone to tell it was actually him. Finally spotting a bunny that looked like Inyi and a pirate that he was 90% sure looked like Shiro, he walked over to the two of them waving. "Hey guys.".
Brightening up at the sight of a familiar face, Inyi gave Shiro a warm smile. "Shiro! It's been a long time." She waggles her eyebrow at the parrot. "Taken up puppetry?" Hearing another, she waves at the ANBU-ed Suzaku walking over, before leaning forward towards Shiro in a stage whisper. "Did we invite any ANBU to the bash?".
leaning over Shiro whispers loudly "I don't believe we did, though can we ever go anywhere without them?". Not being able to identify the anbu costumed person Shiro stares intently at him trying to guess who it is before his puppet in an exasperated tone calls out "Who the hell are you". After hearing the rude question posed by his puppet he quickly admonishes it "We mustn't speak like that to random people" Turning back to the ANBU figure he apologizes "You must forgive me, this puppet has a mind of his own" the parrot squawks in "Damn right I do"
Laughing, Suzaku says "I guess my costume was better than I thought. A shame that you guys couldn't recognize my voice though." He then turns his mask to the side, revealing most , if not all, of his face. He also reveals the sharingan contacts that he's wearing. "Feels like it's been a while since I've seen you guys. How've things been?".
"Oh. Oh! Of course it's Suzaku. I was only testing Shiro," the bunny grinned, so honestly. Not. "Extra classes for you!" Inyi told the pirate with a wink. "Great, and its a great outfit you've got there, Suzaku.", looking the Anbu up and down. "Very realistic. And those eyes! They're like.." She pauses, as if searching for words. "...tadpoles. In blood!", she finishes triumphantly. .
Shiro grins "Very realistic indeed though..." here Shiro changes to a loud whisper "If you are ever in the market for a pair of real ones I might just happen to have a pair floating in a jar on my lab desk." Here the parrot interupts "Yeah those were a pain to get" Hitting the back of the parrots head he silences it and continues on "For a small fee I might be willing to part with them and for an even smaller fee I might be willing to implant them for you." With that Shiro nudges Suzaku with his elbow and goes back to standing beside Inyi.
Suzaku chuckles slightly. "Remind me not to ask how you got those" Looking the two of them up and down, he says "Those are some nice costumes. Never really see too many pirates or human-sized bunnies around here." He laughs as he says this. "So what've you guys been up to lately?".
Inyi gives the questionable seafarer a sideways look. "I don't think Suzaku would look good with four eyes," Inyi proclaimed with much authority. "Though to tell you the truth," switching to Suzaku, "I think I got cheated of my ryo by that tricky, Tricky Suu." She gestures to her outfit. "I wanted a bunny suit, and he gave me a black swimsuit with fishnet stockings.", placing hands on hips. "Where's the cute pink fur, I ask you!".
Grinning Shiro replies to Inyi "Suu is indeed tricky like I went to her to buy a costume for tonight and when I asked for a dinosaur costume all she gave me was something that looked like the mascot for a children's show. If you ask me though I think you look better in this than in pink fur" the puppet adds in "You look pretty hot in that, why don't you ditch this party and leave with this loser" he motions to Shiro with one of his little stubby puppet arms "An me?" Turning red Shiro hits the puppet on the back of the head and lets out an embarrassed chuckle..
Suzaku pulls his ANBU mask back over his face, laughing. "If I could get you two, I could probably trick the whole village into thinking I was actually an ANBU." Looking at Inyi's costume once more, he says "I agree. I think it does look better." Turning towards Shiro, he grins, saying "That's a pretty loud puppet. Where'd you get it?"
A reply seemingly hot on her tongue at the mention of dinosaurs for children shows, her eyebrow arches higher and higher at the ventriloquism. "Aren't parrots suppose to repeat phrases?", she said reasonably, tapping its beaked nose with a finger. "Not that I don't find a playboy parrot a fascinating idea.", a grin flashing across her face. "That's just because you haven't seen the back yet," Inyi insisted. "Some white puff from another costume must've stuck onto it by mistake. I can't even sit down comfortably!”.
"The puppet I bought while on a mission to a large city. The reason why it is so uncouth and loud would be because it is controlled by my darker half. So I am afraid I have no control over it's words." The parrot looking as annoyed as a puppet can adds in "I have no say in the matter of what damn puppet this fool uses" Shiro.
Suzaku laughs at Inyi. "I don't think that really got there by mistake." As Shiro speaks, Suzaku turns towards him, nodding. "I see. Have you been having any luck in gaining better control over your darker half?" As he waits for a reply, Suzaku scratches his head, thinking to himself 'This wig's itchy but it still makes me feel kinda cool...'
"So, that actually acts as a tame outlet for your other persona?" Inyi mused aloud, "Makes things easier though, now we can just take the puppet off you, rather than beating you silly" Finishing her glass, she smiled sheepishly at the two. "Unfortunately, I've got a shift to cover over at the clinic tonight, so I've to nip off." Hand waving, "Farewell! And Suzaku, if you ever do wear that outside, I'm on to you now!" Bunny ears bob as she nods at herself. "Cheerios.".
After watch Inyi depart Shiro Grins and slaps Suzaku on the back with his non puppeted hand. "Well it looks like since she left it's only the two of us left we can do as is fitting for two men of our age. Drink and try to pick up some cute kunoichi".
Suzaku waves to Inyi as she leaves before turning back towards Shiro. Grinning, he says "Sure. Afterwards, we can maybe even play a few jokes on people with our costumes." Lifting his mask again, he continues. "Maybe freak out a few people who don't know any better with these contacts that I'm wearing and this fake sword." His grin widens as he finishes speaking.
"Heh, playing a few jokes should be fun" Spying a cute kunoichi dressed as a cat girl near the snack bar Shiro grins and says to Suzaku "Prepare to watch a master at work" Shiro grabs two bottles of unopened sake off a nearby table and makes his way to the girls side. Putting on his best smile he asks "Would a pretty girl like you care to have a drink with me?" Stammering the girl replies "I..I..I would but I don't think my boyfriend would like it." Raising an eyebrow Shiro asks "Boyfriend?" Without saying a word the girl simply points behind Shiro. Turning around Shiro finds a six foot tallwall of muscle thinly disguised as a gorilla. "Oh that boyfriend" After taking a step backwards the puppet on Shiro's says "What the hell, why are you backing down from an idiot like him I bet he is all muscle and no brain" Shiro looking embarrassed as his puppet continues to belittle the giant takes a glance at the man only to find him sobbing. The girl letting out an ear splitting shriek runs to the mans side and tries to comfort him. Glaring at Shiro she says "You monster, you should be ashamed of yourself for making a grown man cry" She then proceeds to turn back to the sobbing man and comfort him. Turning around to make his way back to Suzaku he finds that the entire crowd of people is staring at him. Sheepishly he makes his way back to Suzaku and silently hands him one of the unopened bottles.
Suzaku laughs as Shiro returns, taking the bottle of sake and opening it. After taking a drink he says "The master huh?" After taking another drink, he says "Maybe it's the parrot. But at least now you can say you made someone who could probably step on you if he wasn't careful cry." He says this, still laughing.
Opening his bottle of sake Shiro takes a big gulp of it. "I suppose that is something to be proud about in a weird sort of way." The parrot on his growling on his hand says "What are you talking about that was all me, in fact if I hadn't been there you would have just slunk away." Ignoring his puppet Shiro asks "So I guess it is your turn now.".
Suzaku grins, spotting a kunoichi that seems to be drinking by herself. "Well I hope this one doesn't have a boyfriend. It would be awful if I had to hurt someone..." Apparently, Suzaku's somewhat inebriated by now. Taking another, this time longer, drink, he begins to walk over to her. Upon reaching her, he leans against a wall and begins to speak to her. What he says to her is for the most part inaudible, but it must've been funny since she started to giggle.
After taking another swig of his drink Shiro takes the parrot puppet off his hand and puts it in a pouch at his side. Seeing a kunoichi enter the room Shiro makes his way towards her and makes some small talk while keeping an eye on his friend across the room..
Suzaku continues talking to the kunoichi until he feels a tap on his right shoulder. Turning around, he sees a group of male genin, the one who tapped him giving him a threatening glare and saying "What're you doing with my sister?" Still a little drunk, Suzaku says "Ah, so you're 'not' her boyfriend. Then that means I'm not doing anything wrong." As he begins to turn back to the kunoichi, her brother grabs him now, saying "That doesn't answer my question!" Laughing, Suzaku says "Hey. We're just talking and I think she's actually enjoying my company, so how 'bout you just go home before you get hurt..."
Shiro seeing a group of males approach Suzaku, Shiro sighs knowing that he had better get over there before someone got hurt. Here he had found a girl who seemingly enjoys his company and Suzaku needs to be stopped before he maims someone. Grabbing a kiss from the girl (not entirely reluctant on her part.) Shiro walks over and gently pushes his way between the two factions. With a big grin he asks "Everyone having fun over here?".
Suzaku grins as Shiro appears. "Of course we are! We're all just having a little drink!" Turning towards the still smiling kunoichi, who says something about her annoying brother, Suzaku begins to speak again. "So like I was saying, there's this beautiful waterfall..." Before he can finish his sentence, the kunoichi's brother begins charging towards Suzaku, who simply smashes his near-empty bottle of sake into his head. However, the genin, who also happens to be nearly twice Suzaku's size, simply shakes it off and grins as if a bottle wasn't just smashed over his head. Chuckling somewhat nervously, Suzaku says "Heh...talk about being hard-headed..." Before he can say anything else, he finds the other genin's hands wrapped around his neck, slowly lifting him into the air..
In one quick motion Shiro unsheathes the cutlass at his side, moves behind the genin group leader and holds the blade to the mans neck. Talking quietly so that only those around him can hear he says "Now there are two ways this can go right now, either A you back off and leave my friend here alone or B I add another corpse to my collection. Now you see I really don't feel like killing anyone tonight so for both our sakes I hope you choose option A".
As the genin are all focused on Shiro, Suzaku is slowly let down, gasping for air. After catching his breath, still slightly under the influence, he says "I wouldn't have even given you a warning..." He turns to continue talking to the kunoichi only to discover that she had already left, going who knows where. Turning back towards the group, he says "Now look what you did! You made her leave!" The leader of the group simply says to him "I'll let you go this time, but next time you won't be so lucky." With that said, the group turns to leave. Muttering, Suzaku picks up a half empty bottle of sake and brings his arm back, as if her were getting ready to throw it at the departing genin..
Moving quickly Shiro catches his arm before he has a chance to throw the bottle. "Don't waste your effort on them right now, you can get back at them once you sober up later. That reminds me you..." He seems like he is about to say something when the girl he was talking to run up to him blushing and hands him a piece of paper before running off. Opening the piece of paper Shiro cracks a big grin, folds it up and puts it in a pouch at his side..
Suzaku sighs before putting the bottle down. Looking around, he says, "Eh...this is starting to get dull anyway, but I'll be fine. Besides...looks like you were getting some action earlier." Pointing to the cutlass Shiro threatened the genin with earlier, he says "If I got in the way of that any further you'd probably use that thing on me." He laughs, patting Shiro on the back and pulling his ANBU mask all the way back down. "So I'll leave you to that." With a thumbs up, he says "See you later." and begins to leave, bringing an end to his interesting evening.
Shiro says, "Heh, I'll walk you home. I would hate to find out tomorrow that you killed half the village due to misunderstandings. Besides I managed to get a date with a cute girl tomorrow and I need to get some sleep."
