Kata System

Post by Gatz »

I'd like to replace the current Kata system with something a little more interactive and LSC3.0-ish. I'm thinking a mini-game more like Simon, the electronic light game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_(game). Anyone have thoughts on that?

this could be interesting, and this sort of randomized game reminds me of shadow boxing (isn't that LSC 3.0?)
A thought:
steps- each phrase that comes up in normal Kata would still be around, but they would only show up when you type the correct line, like with shadow boxing.

I think that sounds like an awesome idea! I would really love to see the rest of the kata go in, and actually make them fun. I agree with Isamu that it would be nice to still see the action messages.

The idea of "Kata" comes from the idea of being able to go through the
various moves and steps of a certain style. Despite the obvious refining
of that style, it also gives great benefits to the user's body and mind,
making it very helpful even when not specifically training for combat but
just general well being.

Every style has various forms that make it into what it is. As a form is
better known, more forms are able to be refined. Different forms, however,
may not focus on the same princples as other forms do. For example, in the
Tsuru Style, the Sleeping Crane focuses on slow flowing movements, while
the Crying Crane focuses on sharp, jerking movements symbolizing the
fluttering wings of a crane.

Every form holds worth beyond the mere motions that make them up and every
great warrior should consider spending a large portion of their time doing
them.

Use Kata in-game to see it first now as it is now. :)

At least you didn't die. That's happened to me before, but I was being stupid AND having connection issues, so it's all on me.
