Hello everyone, I'm so pleased to announce something amazing. However, first I want to tell you a bit about NarutoMUD. It became open to players on December 1st, 2004. During that time it has grown from about 60 vnums to about 1,500 and soon to be about 2,000! All done in a high standard and with care. While some MUDs may boast thousands of vnums, we can say ours are done with quality. NarutoMUD's motto has always been quality over quantity and it shows with all the happy players we've had over the years. We've held a dedicated core of players for a long time and it has been such a great honor to be the one at the front of it all.
However, times have changed. As the desire for bigger and better has brought out new challenges to myself and the rest of the staff. As the challenges grow harder, we too must also answer those challenges in bigger and better ways. So, it is with great pride I can announce our partnership with Bleached Inuyasha Galaxy! It will extend beyond a simple acknowledgement and occasional posting about one another. We will be merging both MUDs together, with the tenative name of Bleached Naruto-Inuyasha Galaxy.
This won't be easy to merge, but nothing great ever is easy. However, luckily both MUD engines run SMAUG and so that lightens things. Bleached Inuyasha Galaxy will serve as the 'base' for the new MUD and NarutoMUD's changes will be added on top of it. Ninja will become available in the world of ancient Japan and be setup exactly as it is on NarutoMUD. Coming over as well will by many NarutoMUD favorites such as the LSC, and trash talk. Naruto skills will still need Shuuren and handseal to be usable in combat, and abilities will be learned as players level up as a ninja. Obviously some skills in NM (NarutoMUD) and Bleached Inuyasha Galaxy (BIG) over lap and we will be addressing those.
So, when can you play this new game? Well, good news is soon. Over the months, Zeno and I have been secretly working on this new MUD. Starting this Tuesday (April 5th), both our MUDs will temporarily shut down. On May 5th, we'll re-open our new MUD. Obviously some of you may have questions, but over the next couple weeks we seek to answer any questions and make sure to get lots of feedback from you to make sure this merge goes smoothly. We don't want players from either side to view this as anything but 'awesome'.
Also, we'll be starting a contest April 15th to May 5th to give the MUD an official name and the winner will receive some cool prizes, but we'll talk more about that later. For now, it is a great privilege and honor that my beloved NarutoMUD can become something more than I ever imagined. So, I want to say that from the bottom of both Zeno and my's hearts, we appreciate our fanbase and hope to see you all May 5th!
