I'd like to formalize some standards for RPing to make it so giving out RPP is less subjective. For me, my pet peeve is using 'OOC:' to communicate OOCly. Since, to me, as soon as the RP flag is on, anything you say is assumed IC.
I do see the need for being able to pester other folks OOCly while in a total IC mode, so I'm dreaming up some work-arounds. However, I'd like some input and discussion over some rules that could be applied to RP. Which include things like: no RPing skills you don't have. Also maybe something that defines what sort of 'latent' abilities are allowed, ie clan abilities etc.
Be honest, be clear and be civil.

Well skills that should be allowed right now since there are no real clans should be genin abilities IE. abilities that are implied once you have graduated the academy.
Henge, Escape techniques, Basic Genjutsu, Kawarimi, etc.
Of course along with any abilities that they have learned beyond basic academy skills. I'm also sketchy on why Henge is in the genjutsu category when it is actually ninjutsu.
I've always thought people putting in their bios that they have some latent super ability without first roleplaying for it was a bit off.

I'd be willing to entertain the ideas of making things abilites, but the way they are put in game serves a greater purpose. Also, I've always felt Henge was more of an illusion. Ninjutsu often is anything that isn't Taijutsu or Genjutsu per se. So, it has simply too many techniques in it in Naruto to make it practical.
From a game play stand point, some re-arranging has to happen for it. From an RP stand point, I think it almost forces players to not become immortal demons.
Also, standards for newbie Genin various village to village are slightly different. Really, we don't see many outside of Konoha use Kawarimi as much. Same with Henge. I'm sure each Village has it's 'standards' that all ninja should know. From the fillers, it is implied Sand requires each person to have a decent knowledge of a weapon. Not trying to incite a 'filler war' but since we go with the anime, for us, it is canon.
One more note! Posting how to RP, use of emotes etc would be good too.

I think my head just exploded, Canon Fillers lol
But I get where you're coming from and going with your telling people how to emote
I AM HAVING A RP CLASS NEXT WEEK EMAIL ME WITH YOUR AVAILABLE TIMES
I have only gotten 2 emails and so far it looks like it will be on a saturday.
Here is a copy of what I posted on the announcement board so you can see it again everyone.
Welcome one and all, experienced and inept, I invite you all to an RP class
with a time to be determined based on times you all have available, I will
bend the time around it I want as big a crowd there as possible. Email me:
Admin@LazyCode.info or Shawncplus@Gmail.com (preferrably both, CC it to
the other) with times you have available.
All discussion will occur in a round-table format, if you have a
question/comment/suggestion just blurt it out (not mid conversation, don't
be rude.)
Topics we will be covering (not set in stone):
General RP Strategy
RP Etiquette
Bio Writing
Basic English class (Yes, because you need it)
After covering those basics and input from others I will take ideas for the
MUD. So jot down some notes and things to discuss so you don't forget.
I will try to get Gatz's OK on RPP which will be handed out according to
participation. If you just sit there idle, (and I can tell) I will not give
them, if you don't contribute in some way (asking questions, giving
comments), you will not get any. I want this to be an active discussion.
If all goes well this time around I will have another class going over the
more advanced aspects of roleplaying including the use of the "semote" command and historical/climatical inclusion.
I hope to see you there and I'm looking forward to your questions and
input.
