Newbie Missions Broken?

I'm posting this hear because if I've understood correctly then the newbie missions aren't working as intended at all.

I felt compelled to conduct a bit of !!!science!!! after reading a few comments from Gatz on a recent thread:

2. Did you do any Newbie Missions? It was my hope that with the newbie missions you could skip a lot of grinding and get to a point where you'd be somewhat close to taking the Genin Exam.

You can take the Genin Exam at level 25. The way we balanced the newbie missions was if you started at level 1, every other mission would level you up.

I was getting a bit bored of grinding anyhow so I rerolled my character in order to test this out, figuring I'd end up close to or higher than my level previously was anyhow. I had spend about 20+ hours just grinding to level 13 (granted there was a good bit of AFK time in there also I'm sure) so I figured being able to level quickly just from doing the newbie missions was something really important that I overlooked.

So, like I said, I rerolled. I had a level 1 leaf ninja fresh outta the box and I proceeded to do the genin missions and nothing else. When I completed all the missions and the questgiver told me all that was left was the genin exam I was at the illustrious level of...three (3). That's a far cry from leveling every other mission, in fact I only leveled twice. Once when I placed the memorial near the bandit fortress and once again just before I beat up the kid in the last mission. Based off what I'm understanding so far, either these missions aren't working as intended or I'm missing something very important.

Yes, he sends you on a MISSION to go take the genin exam. Did you try doing that mission before posting the bug report?

I can't very easily take a level 25 exam at level 3.

This seems like an important phrase and leads me to believe this is *not* a bug.

I agree! Unfortunately I think you completely missed the point of this bug report. Did you even read my initial post?

According to what Gatz has said the newbie missions are supposed to level you to a point you're close to being ready to take the genin exam by the time you finish all of them. Along those lines he also stated you should gain a level every other mission. I even quoted all these statements on the first post.

The bug with these missions is the fact that they aren't working as intended according to his statements, I did all the missions and was only level 3 on completion.

I came here and reported something I saw to be a problem in a polite and respectful manner which I don't feel warrant any kind of attitude in response.

My apologies. I was having a bad day yesterday and perhaps responded a bit more harshly that appropriate.

(Not that it matters much because I don't think it'll get you to level 25 anyway....probably just close to level 10 or so, but) I think that the "newbie missions" include both the new-to-MUD's school and the new-to-NarutoMUD school, as well as all of the newbie missions. If I remember correctly, the mission to go "try the genin exam" is also not the last mission.

No problem, forgive and forget! I appreciate the apology though, that's more than a lot of folks would give.

I hopped back IG after reading this and you were right, there was one more mission after the genin exam! I'm still level 3 but at least I can say I tested all of those missions. That being said, I skipped the academy so maybe that had something of an effect as well.

When I get back to the states, I will check out things. If you only got to level 3 doing -all- of the Newbie Missions, that is a big no-go and needs to be tweaked.
