The Eight Inner Gates is always something to be skeptical about... But i think that if we manage to come up with a proper base for the Eight Inner Gates... Things like Cursed Seal... Or even Jinchirukis will come easy. According to my Naruto Sources Opening the gates seem to be majorly a taijutsu based technique. All of them in one way or another influnence Strength Speed Stamina And Recovery thats it. Naruto MUD style that would mean STR-DEX-CHA. I haven't seen the Inner Gates released for Ninjutsu Reasons so i will assume that its not used in order to beef up ninjutsu techniques.

Re: Eight Inner Gates
Help Eightgates on NM has a pretty beefy description of it:
The eight chakra gates are eight specific points on a
person's chakra circulatory system. They limit the overall
flow of chakra within a person's body. The basis for the
idea of the chakra gates comes from the body's limits on the
functions within it. This makes the body much weaker, but it
keeps the body from expiring too soon. By opening these
gates, the user can surpass their own physical limits at the
cost of extreme damage to their own bodies. The gates and
what they release are listed below:
1. Opening (Initial) releases the brain's
limit on the total strain on the muscles, giving the user
five times their normal strength.
2. Rest (Heal /Energy) releases the brain's limit
on the body's stamina, making a battle-worn person become
miraculously ready to fight as if the fight had just
started.
3. Life is located on the spinal cord, and releases the
limit on the nervous system, which makes information travel
at a faster rate and creates even more stamina. As a side
effect, the user's skin turns red, indicating an increased
blood-oxygen level.
4. Pain (Harm / Wound) releases the limit on oxygen intake
in the lungs, creating much more oxygen for the body to
use.
5. Closing (Limit) releases the limit on the amount of
chakra released at one time.
6. Joy (View) removes the limit on how much fat and proteins
the intestines can digest, and releases otherwise useless
energy resources, giving the user even more power and
stamina.
7. Shock (Wonder / Insanity) removes the limit on how fast
the body can move, removes wastes from dead skin cells to
feces, and gives the body a much cleaner system to work
with, producing even more power and stamina.
8. Death opens the final gate located at the heart and uses
up all of the body's energy. It makes the heart pump at
maximum power and exceeds the power of every other gate. All
the energy in every individual cell is used up, giving the
user power well above that of any Kage. This "big bang"
effect is only temporary, and destroys every muscle in the
user's body, including the heart. Death is assured when
opening this gate.

Re: Eight Inner Gates
Well, my basic thoughts on this as i explained to ichiro, is if its getting everything together, id say do it like you would see on a dbz mud using kaioken, im not exactly sure what you would use as a syntax, but it would add to the stats which only seem to be used with it which would be as explained earlier, str, dex, and idk i guess cha. It would be something closely related to transformation that was stamina draining based, the higher the gate opening the faster it drains.. I like the idea about bones breaking so maybe as the gates begin to close it does damage bit by bit to the user. much like when rock lee when he was finishing off gara, you could hear his muscles tearing everywhere on the last few punches.
First gate could raise dex and str, but cut life in half or more depending on implemeters choice
Second gate would heal the damage and raise dex and cha
etc... for whatever we believe each gate to do, i havent seen past fifth gate so i dont know what happens on 6 or 7
if possible so stamina doesnt wear down too fast, im guessing there would be some kinda way to give a slight boost to stamina every time a gate is opened.
But we also have to keep in mind to keep people from closing and opening gates repeatedly to avoid the stamina drain (potential bug) maybe make a timer that gives a fair amount of time based on how many gates were opened. But makes it usuable again if the player died after using it and still lost a fight or something?
i'll attempt to think more into it but its a start if it hasnt already been started on yet:)

Re: Eight Inner Gates
How would one learn to open the gates?
I think, based on the discussion of Summons and Bots, that there should be a mob/bot that can unlock every gate. each gate opening should be a skill, therefore requiring practices, and possibly rpps.
Edit:
I just thought of a few things: (numbers subject to change)
Initial Gate: Str+10, Dex+5, HP -50%, Con-5
Heal Gate: Stamina restored, regen. stats +150% (the per tick thing)
Life Gate: Dex+10, Int+5
Wound Gate: regen. stats +50%, Con-5
Limit Gate: Chakra restored, Str+5
View Gate: Str+10, Stamina+100%
Wonder Gate: Dex+10, Stamina+100%
Death Gate: All stats +10, inevitable doom...
I figure in order to balance these awesome boosts, one should take dmg per round (note: I think the Eight Gates should only be able to be used in Combat)
x sumorial/round where x=number of gate
1hp/round with Initial gate released
3hp/round with Heal gate released
6hp/rnd, 10hp/rnd, 15hp/rnd, 21hp/rnd, 28hp/rnd,up to 36hp/rnd with Death Gate released...
The reason I came up with the hp drain, was that the Eight Gates push your body beyond it's limits thus causing it damage while granting amazing power.
My other major question: What's the limit for the Gates to be open? Stamina, Health, or timer perhaps?
