Inherent Elemental Attributes

As many people know, all ninja within Naruto (with very few exceptions) have chakra with an inherent main elemental property.

The elements : Lightning, Water, Wind, Fire, and Earth

Ex : Kakashi, who is inherently lightning element, is able to perform the Chidori (a lightning-specific jutsu) as well as produce a "lightning clone" which is a variant of a normal clone with the body formed from lightning chakra. Another famous example is Naruto with his Rasengan -> Rasenshuriken (wind endowed Rasengan) which was much more powerful than a normal Rasengan.


What I am suggesting is that the players of Narutomud also have an inherent elemental property that will slightly alter the power of their skills and will also allow them to modify existing skills based on their element. This will potentially allow for more surprises in battle (that Kage Bunshin (fire) just exploded in your face!) as well as variation in techniques that you already know.

As for "finding out" your element... I would suggest it be 100% random with the option of trading in RPP to get a specific one. There would be a hidden value for each character and, once you purchase the special paper needed to find out your elemental affinity (which would not be available to lower levels to avoid recreating multiple characters to get the affinity they want), it will become visible to you and 100% set (cannot be modified in any way, even with RPP).

RPP can only be used to modify the *hidden* value. Once it is revealed, it's set.

This is something I want to put in badly, but somehow keeps managing to get pushed lower in the queue. However, we already have elements in the game, despite not making it very obvious. All skills can be marked with an element, including the mixed elements we've seen like Ice and Wood. Where players can see this is using two skills in combination or power struggling.

For example, if you do a combination of Goukakyuu and Kasui Mizu, you're combined jutsu will be the element Fire/Water, right now I don't have support that if you combine two types it might become another like Earth + Water = Wood. However, if you power struggle with another move, it might have an advantage against the elements and become stronger or weaker.

So, if element 1 is strong against element 2, and so player 1's jutsu is element 1 and it is power struggled with player 2's jutsu which is element 2, player 1's jutsu has an advantage and has an easier time over powering player 2's jutsu.

However, my idea for adding elements to players was to let a player get 1 element at level 100, 200 and 300. A elemental affinity would let players use skills of that element for less Chakra, higher chance to hit and not be dodged and a small bonus to the damage it does.

Also, for an even cooler feat, you could attach an elemental affinity to skills you favorite.

Totally, if you read the notes on our anniversary meeting, I basically laid out this plan. However, Genjutsu had been pressing on me for awhile and a couple other things have notched their way into the queue before Player elements. However, the whole system is pretty much setup minus actually saving of elements on players.

Ahah! I'm glad I found this little tidbit (I'm surprised I didn't find it before).
